| 2 | | WHEREAS, Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease |
| 3 | | among children in the United States between infancy and age 15; |
| 4 | | one in five children will die from the disease; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, The leading causes of childhood cancer are largely |
| 6 | | unknown; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The level of support and funding for childhood |
| 8 | | cancer research has not reached the same level as other cancer |
| 9 | | awareness campaigns; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, The concept for the G9 was created by Annie (only |
| 11 | | 11-years-old at the time) who saw the nation turn pink in |
| 12 | | October for breast cancer; she became determined to turn the |
| 13 | | world "Gold in September" for kids battling cancer; G9 is a |
| 14 | | national effort to raise awareness and financial support for |
| 15 | | childhood cancer research and the development of new |
| 16 | | treatments; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, A recent proclamation signed by President Obama |
| 18 | | declared September of 2016 as National Childhood Cancer |
| 19 | | Awareness Month; therefore, be it

| 20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
