| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Earl G. Weichel of Rantoul, who passed |
| 4 | | away on July 2, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Earl Weichel was born on December 22, 1928 in |
| 6 | | Dubuque, Iowa; he married Joan L. Dettmann on July 10, 1959 at |
| 7 | | the First Presbyterian Church in Dubuque, Iowa; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Earl Weichel served in the United States Navy and |
| 9 | | the United States Army from 1946 to 1954; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Earl Weichel worked in management of Caradco for |
| 11 | | many years until his retirement in 1995; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Earl Weichel loved Rantoul and was active in the |
| 13 | | community in many capacities; he served as director and past |
| 14 | | president of the Armed Services YMCA, director of the Rantoul |
| 15 | | Chamber of Commerce, section leader for the United Way, |
| 16 | | director of the Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum, and director |
| 17 | | and president of the Rantoul Community Foundation; he was also |
| 18 | | a member of the Fraternal Order of Free and Accepted Masons and |
| 19 | | served as president of the Rantoul Rotary Club in 1985; his |
| 20 | | involvement in the community earned him the "Outstanding |
| 21 | | Citizen of the Year" award; and |
