| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Charles T. "Chuck" Greenway of Morris, |
| 4 | | who passed away on November 11, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Charles Greenway was born in Chicago to Charles S. |
| 6 | | and Freda (Grapes) Greenway in 1932; he graduated from Fenger |
| 7 | | High School in Chicago and Bowling Green State University in |
| 8 | | Ohio, where he was President of Theta Chi Fraternity; he served |
| 9 | | in the United States Army in 1955, where he served in |
| 10 | | Intelligence at Fort Meade, Maryland; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Charles Greenway started selling cars at Western |
| 12 | | Avenue, where he became the leading salesman; he was recruited |
| 13 | | by General Motors and became the District Manager for the |
| 14 | | Pontiac Motor Division; he moved to Morris in September of |
| 15 | | 1967, where he purchased Benson Pontiac and founded Greenway |
| 16 | | Motors, which he operated for 49 years; he has represented |
| 17 | | Pontiac, Oldsmobile, GMC Trucks, Ford, Mercury, Chrysler, |
| 18 | | Plymouth, Dodge, Ram, Jeep, Eagle, AMC, and International |
| 19 | | Harvester; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Charles Greenway was past President of the |
| 21 | | Illinois New Car/Truck Dealer Association; he served for 15 |
| 22 | | years on the Lockport School Board, and was a member of the |
