SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Sharon A. Skaggs of Ashamy, who passed
4away on December 9, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sharon Skaggs was born in Chicago to Roger and
6Eleanore (Bjornson) Ashamy on November 1, 1946; she graduated
7from St. Paul's grade school in 1960 and St. Francis Academy in
81964; she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English in 1968 and
9her Master of Arts in Speech in 1969, both from the University
10of Illinois; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Sharon Skaggs taught full-time at Triton College;
12she was a volunteer teacher on the Pine Ridge Indian
13Reservation in South Dakota and worked in the family clothing
14store in Coal City (Ashamys); she taught part-time at Joliet
15Junior College and retired as a City of Joliet parking deck
16employee; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Sharon Skaggs was preceded in death by her
18parents; her brothers-in-law, Marc Fuchs, and William and Paul
19Skaggs; and her niece, Angela Rhotten; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Sharon Skaggs is survived by her husband of over
2141 years, Raymond Gerald Skaggs; her son, Patrick Skaggs; her

1daughter, Maureen Skaggs; her sister, Corinne Fuchs; her
2brother-in-law, Robert (Minnie) Skaggs; her nieces, Kim (Eric)
3Magee, Becky (Brad) Foster, and Karyn Showers; her nephews,
4Jeffery (Blessie) Skaggs, Steven (Valerie) Skaggs, and Will
5(Wendy) Skaggs, and many great-nieces and great-nephews,
6including Abbey and Luke Foster, and Burke and Britt Magee;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Sharon A. Skaggs, and extend our sincere condolences to her
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Sharon Skaggs as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
