SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Clair L. Thompson of Edgington, who
4passed away on December 12, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Clair Thompson was born in Mercer County to Earl
6and Sylvia Anderson Thompson on August 14, 1928; he graduated
7from Aledo High School in 1946 and served in the United States
8Air Force; he married Lillie Menes; later, he married Marilyn
9Fuhr Shaffer in Edgington on December 13, 2004; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Clair Thompson was a lifetime farmer and also a
11tractor mechanic; in earlier years, he also owned and operated
12Clair's Shell Service and then worked at Lafever & Duncan in
13Aledo; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Clair Thompson enjoyed working on antique
15tractors, automobiles, and going to area car shows in his "T
16Bucket"; he also enjoyed dancing, polka music, and feeding the
17birds and squirrels; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Clair Thompson was preceded in death by his
19parents; his brother, Carl Thompson; and his sisters, Wanda
20Fausett, and Kathleen Leary; and

1    WHEREAS, Clair Thompson is survived by his wife, Marilyn;
2his sons, Dan (Cindy) Thompson, Dave (Elaine) Thompson, Jeff
3Thompson, Larry Thompson, and Tim (Jennifer) Thompson; his
4stepchildren; his 12 grandchildren; numerous
5great-grandchildren; his sisters, Verla Thompson, and Eleanor
6"Curly" McAtee; his brother, Earl "Bud" Thompson; and numerous
7nieces, nephews, and other family; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Clair L. Thompson, and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Clair Thompson as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
