SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rudolph "Rudy" Mahalik Sr. of Joliet, who
4passed away on December 14, 2016 at the age of 95; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rudolph Mahalik Sr. was born in Joliet where he
6remained a lifelong resident; he was a veteran of the United
7States Navy serving in the South Pacific on the USS Savo Island
8aircraft carrier as a weatherman during World War II; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Rudolph Mahalik Sr. was the retired owner of
10Poehner, Dillman and Mahalik Plumbing Heating and Cooling; he
11was a member of the Joliet Rotary Club, a former member of the
12Joliet Noon Lions Club, and a founding member of Crime Stoppers
13of Will County; he served on the Board of Easter Seals, Joliet
14City Center Partnership, St. Patrick's Retirement Home, and
15Crisis Line of Will County; he was president of the Plumbing
16and Mechanical Contractors Association, and founder and
17President of the Joliet Eastside Business organization; he also
18served on various City of Joliet commissions including the
19Joliet Plan Committee and the Joliet Economic Development
20Committee; he was honored by the Joliet City Council with the
21Citizen of the Year Award and by the City of Joliet with a
22section of Scott Street being named "Rudy Mahalik Way"; he was
23inducted in the Joliet Project Pride and received the 2008

1Joliet Area Historical Society Preservation Award and the Lewis
2University De La Salle Award; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Rudolph Mahalik Sr. was preceded in death by his
4wife, Isabelle Mahalik; his parents, Michael and Mary (Kucavik)
5Mahalik; and eight siblings, Mary, Ann (Charles) Wibirt,
6Josephine, Joseph (Florence), Amelia, Ambrose (Mildred),
7Frank, and Raymond (Lorraine); and
 
8    WHEREAS, Rudolph Mahalik Sr. is survived by his three sons,
9Rudy (Gerry) Mahalik Jr., Tom Mahalik, and Mark (Hua) Mahalik;
10his grandchildren, Cathy (Tim) Lindeman, and Jake (Serina)
11Mahalik; his great-grandchildren, Isabella and Mason Lindeman;
12his step great-grandchildren, Tayler and Tyler Lindeman; his
13brother, Edward (the late Marian) Mahalik; and his numerous
14nieces, nephews, and godchildren; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
17family and friends, mourn the passing of Rudolph "Rudy" Mahalik
18Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends,
19and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Rudolph Mahalik Sr. as an expression
22of our deepest sympathy.
