SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Patricia "Pat" Cervantes of Woodstock,
4who passed away on November 13, 2016 at the age of 80; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Patricia Cervantes was born in Woodstock to Robert
6and Harriet Mansfield on March 15, 1936; she graduated from
7Alden-Hebron High School in 1954; she married Ralph Cervantes
8at Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock on October 11, 1975; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Patricia Cervantes worked at the McHenry State
10Bank for 30 years; she was committed to extending her love to
11those in need; she befriended residents of the SEDOM center,
12delivered Meals-on-Wheels, and visited people who were
13homebound for many years; she was a faithful member of Grace
14Lutheran Church, an officer of the former Kishwaukee Valley
15Garden Club, and the coordinator of the Bridge Marathon for
16Adult & Child Therapy Services; she enjoyed playing bridge with
17four different clubs, including one that has been meeting for
18almost 50 years; she liked attending the Living Series at the
19Opera House and Concerts on the Square regularly, and going to
20as many of her grandchildren's events as she could; she loved
21the color purple, butterflies, flowers, Elvis, and cows; she
22will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her
23thoughtfulness, and especially for her devotion to her family

1and friends; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Patricia Cervantes was preceded in death by her
3parents, Harriet and Robert; her husband, Ralph; her brothers,
4Howard and Frank; and her nephews, Curtis, Edward, and Timothy;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Patricia Cervantes is survived by her daughters,
7Sue (Don) Trede, Lisa (Mike) Frauens, Margaret Cervantes, Laura
8Cervantes and Jennifer Cervantes; her grandchildren, Brad
9(Courtney) Trede, Lauryn Trede, Bret Wienke, Shannon
10Cervantes, Jared (Alyssa) Wienke, Andrew Frauens, and Kirsten
11Frauens; her four great-grandchildren; her brothers, Russell
12and John Mansfield; and her many cherished nephews, nieces,
13in-laws, and friends; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
16family and friends, mourn the passing of Patricia "Pat"
17Cervantes, and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
18friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Patricia Cervantes as an expression
21of our deepest sympathy.
