SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald G. Schellhaass of Marengo, who
4passed away on October 31, 2016 at the age of 69; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Schellhaass was born in Dundee, Wisconsin
6to Carl and Adeline (Hafermann) Schellhaass on May 2, 1947; he
7served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967-1968 in the
8Vietnam War; he married Christine H. Urbanus in Woodstock on
9June 28, 1997; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Donald Schellhaass retired as the administrator
11for the University of Illinois Extension in Woodstock; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Donald Schellhaass was a member of the Trinity
13Lutheran Church in Harvard, the University of Illinois Master
14Gardeners, the McHenry County Farm Bureau, the Illinois Grape
15Growers and Vintners Association, the Northern Illinois Wine
16and Grape Growers, and the Woodstock Wood Workers; he was also
17a past member of the 4-H Foundation and Illinois Extension
18Council; he enjoyed many hours of volunteering at the Harvard
19Community Garden; and he always enjoyed a social gathering and
20spending many hours in the garden and vineyard; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Donald Schellhaass was preceded in death by his

1parents, Carl and Adeline Schellhaass; and his brother, Dale
2Schellhaass; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Donald Schellhaass is survived by his wife,
4Christine H. Schellhaass; his children, Tina (Ken) Penrod,
5Tawny (John) Havert, and Trent (Joy) Schellhaass; his
6stepchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Dallas, Kristin Urbanus, and
7Michael Urbanus; his grandchildren, Jacob, Addie, and Alissa
8Penrod, Mikayla Havert, Tyler Kostopoulos, Abagail
9Schellhaass, and Emma and Jack Dallas; his siblings, Sandy
10(Bernie) Baldwin, David (Cheryle) Schellhaass, Mary (Ray)
11Sulger, Bonnie (Joe) Stilp, Dennis Schellhaass, and Danny
12(Barb) Schellhaass; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore,
13be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
16family and friends, mourn the passing of Donald G. Schellhaass,
17and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and
18all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Donald Schellhaass as an expression
21of our deepest sympathy.
