SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ruth T. (Clarkens) Nick of McHenry, who passed away on December 3, 2016, at the age of 91; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Nick was born to William E. and Theresa (Betz) Clarkens on January 1, 1925; she married Raymond Nick at St. James Church in Arlington Heights on November 25, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Nick retired from Baxter Laboratories as a Laboratory Supervisor and was a member of the Baxter Alumni; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Nick was a cherished member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Antioch and a volunteer for Head Start in Libertyville; she was very active in the Fox Lake Lions Club; she was the former chaplain, chairwoman of the Health and Welfare committee, co-chairwoman and organizer of the annual Flower Show, Lioness of the Year, and recipient of the 1984 Melvin Jones Award; she volunteered for the Lions Candy Day and Bingo; she enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, reading, and the occasional fishing trip; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Nick was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; her sister, Alice Knaack; and her brothers-in-law, Clyde Canovi, Edward Glod, and Wade Winstead; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Nick is survived by her daughter, Patricia (William) Koznarski; her grandson, Richard Koznarski; her great-granddaughter, Jolyn Koznarski; her great-great-grandson, Ian Koznarski; her sisters, Irene Canovi, Shirley Glod, Bernice Winstead; her brother William F. Clarkens; and her many beloved nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Ruth T. Nick, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ruth Nick as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
