| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Ronald Allen of Naperville, who passed |
| 4 | | away on December 2, 2016, at the age of 73; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Allen founded the A. Allen Insurance Agency |
| 6 | | in Chicago's Austin community after graduating from Chicago |
| 7 | | State University; he had previously worked for the United |
| 8 | | States Postal Service and as a business teacher at King High |
| 9 | | School in Chicago; he was one of the first African American |
| 10 | | insurance agents for the Allstate Insurance Co. in Chicago, and |
| 11 | | maintained an affiliation with them for 42 years, retiring in |
| 12 | | 2009; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Allen was a social activist in DuPage |
| 14 | | County; he spent his retirement active in the DuPage County |
| 15 | | Democratic Party and founded the Unity Partnership outreach |
| 16 | | group to foster trust and goodwill between police and county |
| 17 | | residents; he served as a precinct committeeman in Naperville |
| 18 | | Township and was an active member of the DuPage County NAACP; |
| 19 | | and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Allen was an active member of the DuPage |
| 21 | | AME Church in Lisle and served on the DuPage Diversity steering |
| 22 | | committee; he served on the DuPage County Crime Stoppers Board |
