SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Rev. Donald Joseph Ahearn, who passed 
4away on January 1,2017, at the age of 91; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Rev. Ahearn was born on the West Side of Chicago 
6on March 1, 1925 and attended Quigley High School and 
7University of Saint Mary of the Lake Seminary; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Rev. Ahearn was the former pastor at Saint Juliana 
9Parish in Edison Park; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Rev. Ahearn was ordained in 1951; he served as 
11pastor or assistant pastor at seven different parishes in 
12Chicago and the suburbs until 1975 when he was named pastor and 
13administrator at Saint Juliana Parish; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Rev. Ahearn served as chaplain of St. Patrick High 
15School; he was a member of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Review 
16Board and the School Board Advisory Committee; he also served 
17as Assistant Vicar for Senior Priests; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Rev. Ahearn was named Pastor Emeritus in 1995;

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
3Rev. Donald Joseph Ahearn, and extend our sincere condolences 
4to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be 
5it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to  the family of  Rev. Ahearn as an expression of our 
8deepest sympathy.
