HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Dixie's Cup Cafe in Pinckneyville was established 
3in the early 1900s and, through its different names and 
4different owners, has become a cherished part of Pinckneyville; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, On October 28, 2014, the Illinois Office of 
7Tourism announced that Dixie's Cup Cafe was selected as an 
8"Enjoy Illinois: Delicious Destination" award recipient; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The Illinois Office of Tourism has developed the 
10"Enjoy Illinois: Delicious Destination" award to promote local 
11food establishments around the State that are beloved 
12destinations for visitors and locals alike; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, To be eligible for the Delicious Destination 
14award, restaurants must be nominated by a Convention and 
15Visitors Bureau, a community member, or an Enjoy Illinois 
16social media fan, as well as be a one-of-a-kind restaurant that 
17is authentic to Illinois and is an established part of its 
18community; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, According to a 2013 D.K. Shifflet and Associates 
20study, nearly one-third of leisure travelers to Illinois 
21reported participating in a unique "culinary experience" as a

1key part of their vacation, proving how important the culinary 
2offerings of Illinois are to the economy; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Dixie's Cup Cafe represents the numerous local 
4diners, cafes, and restaurants that are cornerstones of their 
5communities throughout Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8offer our congratulations to the owners of Dixie's Cup Cafe for 
9being selected for the "Enjoy Illinois: Delicious Destination" 
10award; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That we honor Dixie's Cup Cafe as an 
12authentically Illinois restaurant and thank the owners of 
13Dixie's Cup Cafe and other recipients of the "Enjoy Illinois: 
14Delicious Destination" award for helping make Illinois great 
15and putting many local communities on the map as culinary 
16destinations; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18presented to the owners of Dixie's Cup Cafe as an expression of 
19our esteem and respect.
