Biography: State Representative Sandy Hamilton serves the 99th District in the Illinois House of Representatives within Sangamon County. She is a real estate broker specializing in residential and commercial real estate and is a small business owner. Rep. Hamilton’s priorities include changing public policy to encourage economic growth and tourism to stop the out migration of families from Illinois and reforming the budgeting and pension systems. Prior to the General Assembly, Sandy was on the Board of Directors, Finance Committee and was an Executive Board Member with Capital Area Realtors (CAR). She has been on the Awards Selection Task Force, a current member of Commercial Real Estate Network (CREN), where she served as President. She received the “Community Service Award” from her peers at CAR and Sandy has served on the Economic and Community Development Commission (EDC) since 2019. For more than 30 years Sandy has been a high school volleyball coach helping young women across central Illinois as well as Parkland Junior College, where the team won the National Championship. Sandy Hamilton earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign where she played volleyball on a full-ride athletic scholarship. Her team won three Big Ten Championships and also was a Final Four participant her junior and senior year. In her senior year at Illinois she received the “Coaches Award” which was then renamed to the “Sandy Scholtens Award” given to the athlete who embodies work ethic, attitude and team work. Sandy Hamilton is married with three boys and has been a life-long resident of Illinois. She and her husband, Bob, have lived in Springfield for more than 20 years.
