1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2989

2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2989 on page 4, by | ||||||
3 | inserting immediately below line 6 the following: | ||||||
4 | " (f-10)(1) The Department shall issue a standard written | ||||||
5 | policy for each institution and facility of the Department that | ||||||
6 | provides for: | ||||||
7 | (A) the number of in-person visits each committed | ||||||
8 | person is entitled to per week and per month; | ||||||
9 | (B) the hours of in-person visits; and | ||||||
10 | (C) the type of identification required for visitors. | ||||||
11 | (2) This policy shall be posted on the Department website | ||||||
12 | and at each facility. | ||||||
13 | (3)
Visitations may not be restricted based on disciplinary | ||||||
14 | actions generated from the actions of other committed persons. | ||||||
15 | (4)
A minor may not be denied entry to visit a committed | ||||||
16 | person for lack of an identification. | ||||||
17 | (5)
The Department shall post on its website daily any | ||||||
18 | restrictions or denials of visitation for that day and the |

1 | succeeding 5 calendar days, including those based on a lockdown | ||||||
2 | of the facility, to inform family members and other visitors. | ||||||
3 | (6)
The Department shall appoint a Family Ombudsman who | ||||||
4 | shall be responsible for fielding complaints and questions from | ||||||
5 | family members on the application of this standard written | ||||||
6 | policy for family visits. ".
