AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3185

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3185, AS AMENDED,
3with reference to page and line numbers of House Amendment No.
41, as follows:
 
5on page 3, line 23, by replacing "chairman" with "chairperson
6chairman"; and
 
7on page 6, by replacing lines 7 through 15 with the following:
8"conduct and grading of examinations. Examinations may be
9written, oral, by statement of training and experience, in the
10form of tests of knowledge, skill, capacity, intellect,
11aptitude; or, by any other method, which in the judgment of the
12Merit Board is reasonable and practical for any particular
13classification. Different examining procedures may be
14determined for the examinations in different classifications
15but all examinations in the same classification shall be
16uniform."; and

1by replacing line 24 on page 8 through line 2 on page 9 with the
2following:
3        "(14) To authorize the creation and use of pilot
4    programs to further the goals of this Act, which may be
5    inconsistent with any rules adopted by the Merit Board,
6    provided that such programs are of limited duration and do
7    not reduce any rights or benefits of employees subject to
8    this Act."; and
 
9on page 11, line 6, after "positions", by inserting ", entry
10level only,"; and
 
11by replacing line 26 on page 13 through line 3 on page 14 with
12the following:
13    "(g) Employees in positions covered by this Act who, while
14in good standing, leave to engage in military service during a
15period of hostility, shall be given credit for seniority
16purposes for time served in the armed forces.".
