HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Mark Stephens on his 25th 
4anniversary as chairman of the Triton College Board of 
5Trustees; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Mark Stephens is a lifelong resident of the area; 
7he graduated from East Leyden High School in three years and 
8earned a
bachelor's degree in business and a juris doctorate 
9from DePaul University, while also
taking classes at Triton 
10College; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Mark Stephens become the owner of Bomark Cleaning 
12Services in 1981 and an attorney at
Storino, Ramella and Durkin 
13in 1988; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Mark Stephens was elected to the Triton College 
15Board of Trustees as vice chairman in 1991
and assumed the 
16position of chair in 1992; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Mark Stephens, Triton 
18College has grown to support the needs of the
community; in the 
19early 1990s, he  recognized the need for technical training in 
20the burgeoning
field of computers; and

1    WHEREAS, Mark Stephens has prioritized financial stability 
2and institutional
efficiency; Triton College remains a

3financially sound institution; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mark Stephens has helped see that Triton College 
5continues to offer the best facilities for
students, securing a 
6$53 million bond project across the scope of three years and a 
7newly renovated H Building, athletic complex, greenhouse, 
8Cernan Space Center,
demonstration kitchen, and many other 
9campus facility improvements; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Mark Stephens has a passion for Triton College; 
11while many things have changed over his 25-year tenure
as 
12chairman of the board, one remains constant: his steadfast 
13leadership and
dedication to serving students; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Through the tireless efforts of Mark Stephens, 
15Triton College has uplifted the
community through education, 
16changing the lives of thousands of members of the community; 
17therefore, be it
  
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
19HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
20congratulate Mark Stephens on his 25th anniversary as chairman 
21of the Triton College Board of Trustees; and be it further
