| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the Geneva High School |
| 4 | | girls basketball team, the Vikings, on winning the 2017-2018 |
| 5 | | Class 4A Girls Basketball State Championship; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Vikings finished their season with an exciting |
| 7 | | win over the Montini Broncos at Redbird Arena at Illinois State |
| 8 | | University in Normal on March 3, 2018; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The chemistry, trust, and friendship displayed |
| 10 | | between Viking players helped them remain levelheaded |
| 11 | | throughout their most important game of the year; they played a |
| 12 | | hard fought game, taking charge in the final seconds to score |
| 13 | | the winning basket and ending the game with a 28-26 victory; |
| 14 | | the team's hard work and passion for the game helped them |
| 15 | | secure a well-deserved second state championship in two years; |
| 16 | | and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, The Vikings finished their season with a record of |
| 18 | | 31 wins and 3 losses; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, The Vikings included a strong senior class who in |
| 20 | | their time at Geneva High School have won four regional and |
| 21 | | conference titles, three sectionals, and three |
|

| 1 | | super-sectionals; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Leading the Vikings throughout a great regular |
| 3 | | season and playoff run was Coach Sarah Meadows, who has headed |
| 4 | | the team since 2011, Assistant Coach Lindsey Huettemann, and |
| 5 | | Team Manager Eliza Peters; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Vikings are Anna Burke, Alyssa Davidson, Jenna |
| 7 | | Segebrecht, Maddy Yelle, Emma Davine, Anilise Bragg, Brittany |
| 8 | | Caskey, Lexie Moore, Brie Borkowicz, Margaret Whitley, Katie |
| 9 | | Montgomery, Cassidy Navigato, Lindsay Blackmore, Madison |
| 10 | | Mallory, Emma Kornak, and Stephanie Hart; therefore, be it

| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 12 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 13 | | congratulate the Geneva High School girls basketball team, the |
| 14 | | Vikings, on winning the 2017-2018 Class 4A Girls Basketball |
| 15 | | State Championship, and we recognize the exemplary success of |
| 16 | | Viking players both past and present; and be it further

| 17 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 18 | | presented to all members and coaches of the Geneva Vikings as a |
