HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Gavin Christensen on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America; and

WHEREAS, Gavin Christensen joined the Cub Scouts as a Tiger with Pack 290 in 2007; he completed Cub Scouts and then crossed over to Boy Scouts in 2012; he was a member of Troop 198 from 2013 until it disbanded in 2016; he then joined Troop 392 and was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on January 10, 2018; he is a senior at Schaumburg High School, where he plays the sousaphone in the marching band and the tuba in the wind symphony; he plans to pursue a career following his passion for paleontology or as a science educator and attend Harper College initially; and

WHEREAS, Gavin Christensen's Eagle Scout project was completed at Church of the Cross, where he built two planting areas and filled them with perennials; he approached the Church of the Cross in gratitude for their hosting Troop 198 for many years; and

WHEREAS, Through his dedication and hard work, Gavin Christensen has demonstrated that he lives by the principles of the Scout Oath and Law in his daily life, and that he has completed his Eagle Service Project, which by Scout regulations is required to be of significant value to the community; and

WHEREAS, Gavin Christensen sets a fine example for his peers and friends through his leadership, hard work, and commitment; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Gavin Christensen on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, and we commend his dedication and determination in achieving this most prestigious of scouting awards; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Gavin Christensen as an expression of our esteem and respect.
