HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Morton High School
4Baseball Team, the Potters, on winning the 2018 IHSA Class 3A
5State Championship; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Potters defeated Nazareth Academy of LaGrange
7Park 8-1 in the semifinal game on June 8 and defeated Chicago
8St. Ignatius 4-1 in the championship game on June 9; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Morton High School outscored their opponents
1062-19 throughout the playoffs and ended the season with a
11record of 30-6, one win short of a school record for a single
12season, despite a schedule shortened by rain; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The state championship win continues a string of
14successes for the Potters, as this is the second year in a row
15the team has reached the IHSA Elite Eight, and their combined
16record for the past four seasons is 114-30; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The Potters are led by Head Coach Jesse Crawford,
18Assistant Coaches Benji Cashdollar, Doug McCarty, and Craig
19Wright, Batboy Cam Crawford, Athletic Director Scott Jones, and
20Trainer Katie Gavin; and

1    WHEREAS, The Potters are Connor Kelly, Evan Pfeifer, Evan
2Heal, Haegan Kelly, Isaac Weber, Isaiah Davis, Kyle Killion,
3Logan Peterson (All-State player), Vinni Massaglia, Ashton
4Holcomb, Ben Corum, Ben Meyer, Braden Brown, Drew Fuiten, Jack
5Brennan, Jacob Moza, Nick Guerra (All-State player), Riggs
6Wilkinson, Andrew Osing, Bobby Hines, Bryce Brown, Isaiah
7Gudeman, and Karter Hostetler; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10congratulate the Morton High School Baseball Team, the Potters,
11on winning the 2018 IHSA Class 3A State Baseball Championship,
12and we hold them up as examples of great class, character,
13determination, confidence, effort, and teamwork; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the players and coaches of the Morton High School
17Baseball Team as an expression of our respect and esteem.
