2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Nancy Ann Neumiller of Peoria, who passed |
4 | | away on March 14, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Neumiller was born in Smith Center, Kansas |
6 | | to James Roger and Irene Louise (Johnson) Coolidge on April 24, |
7 | | 1931; she grew up during the Dustbowl and the Great Depression |
8 | | in Kansas and later moved to Estes Park, Colorado; she learned |
9 | | the family business and managed the front-end of Coolidge's |
10 | | Restaurant in Estes Park for 13 summers; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Neumiller graduated from Westport High |
12 | | School in Kansas City, Missouri and attended the University of |
13 | | Kansas, the University of Colorado, and the University of |
14 | | Chicago; she graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Education |
15 | | from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1960; she |
16 | | came to Peoria to be an art teacher at Richwoods Community High |
17 | | School; she later went on to teach at Saint Paul's Episcopal |
18 | | School in Peoria; she married Charles "Dick" Neumiller at First |
19 | | Federated Church in Peoria on June 6, 1961; and |
20 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Neumiller was a dedicated volunteer and |
21 | | supporter of her adopted hometown; she served as a board member |
22 | | on the Museum Society Board and the Glen Oak Museum, where she |

1 | | created new displays of historic artifacts at the then-new |
2 | | museum at Lakeview Center for the Arts and Science in Peoria; |
3 | | she served on the board and was a member of the Fine Arts |
4 | | Society from 1966 to 1970 and 1991 to 2005; she had been with |
5 | | the Central Illinois Landmark Foundation since 1975, where she |
6 | | continued restoration of the Grand Army of the Republic Hall; |
7 | | she was an officer and member of the Peoria Chapter of the |
8 | | Daughters of the American Revolution, the Colonial Danes XVII |
9 | | Century, the Peoria Area Alumnae Panhellenic, where she was the |
10 | | President for the Chi Omega Alumnae, the Peoria Stitchers |
11 | | Guild, and the New England Historical Society in Boston, |
12 | | Massachusetts; she was involved in the John C. Flanagan House |
13 | | Steering Committee at Peoria High School since 1985; she was a |
14 | | guide for the John C. Flanagan House for 15 years and was the |
15 | | founder and a Chairman for their major fall event, |
16 | | "Kettledrum", from 1985 to 1993; she served on the board of the |
17 | | Peoria Historical Society from 1974 to 1978 and was a guide for |
18 | | their bus tours for 15 years; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, In 1989, Nancy Neumiller was involved in the |
20 | | organizing committee for the 1691 Foundation Area |
21 | | Tricentennial; from 1990 to 1991, she developed the characters |
22 | | for the tricentennial for the History and Research Committee; |
23 | | she conceived, organized, and developed the Peoria Area |
24 | | Tricentennial Wall Hanging; from 1991 to 1992, she designed and |
25 | | constructed the Tricentennial Wall Hanging with 31 Stitchers |

1 | | Guild Members, which was unveiled on September 11, 1992; in |
2 | | 1993, she organized a new committee for the moving and the |
3 | | displaying of the Tricentennial Wall Hanging; she was appointed |
4 | | by Mayor Maloof to the Peoria Historic Preservation Commission |
5 | | for eight years; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Neumiller was preceded in death by her |
7 | | parents; her husband, Dick; and her oldest sister, Dede; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Neumiller is survived by her children, Jane |
9 | | (Marcus) Neumiller-Bustad, Roger (Valentina) Neumiller, and |
10 | | Kate (Bill) Schureman, and her grandchildren, Sara, Kristina, |
11 | | Melody, Victoria, James, and Amelia; therefore, be it
|
12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
14 | | Nancy Ann Neumiller, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
15 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
16 | | further

17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
18 | | presented to the family of Nancy Neumiller as an expression of |
19 | | our deepest sympathy.
