SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of E. Vergene "Sam" Samuelson of Milan, who
4passed away on March 28, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, E. Vergene Samuelson was born to Elmer C. and
6Irene (Johnson) Samuelson on September 15, 1923; he joined the
7United States Army and was deployed in the African/Middle East
8Campaigns during World War II as a Combat Medic Technician; he
9married June M. Otto on June 2, 1997; and
 
10    WHEREAS, E. Vergene Samuelson worked at Minneapolis-Moline
11for 10 years; he worked as a machine operator for Alcoa, and
12retired after 31 years of service; and
 
13    WHEREAS, E. Vergene Samuelson was a member of First
14Presbyterian Church in Milan, and the Andover American Legion;
15he greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, dancing,
16playing cards, and golfing; and
 
17    WHEREAS, E. Vergene Samuelson was preceded in death by his
18first wife, Florence Wilke; and
 
19    WHEREAS, E. Vergene Samuelson is survived by his wife,
20June; his stepdaughters, Christie Coverdill, and Teresa

1(Steve) Karolek; his 10 stepgrandchildren; nine
2step-great-grandchildren; his nephew, Larry Dahm; and several
3other loving family members and friends; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6E. Vergene "Sam" Samuelson, and extend our sincere condolences
7to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
8it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of E. Vergene Samuelson as an
11expression of our deepest sympathy.
