SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald E. Swanson Jr. of East Moline, who
4passed away on April 3, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Swanson was born in Moline to Donald E. Sr.
6and Evelyn Renner Swanson on November 8, 1945; he graduated
7from Moline High School in 1963 and was a member of the
8baseball team; he attended the University of Illinois where he
9earned his degree in accounting; he served in the United States
10Army Reserve and married Marcia Hoaglund in Rock Island on
11September 10, 1966; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Donald Swanson was an accountant and later was in
13automobile sales at Green Chrysler and Courtesy Nissan; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Donald Swanson was active with his church, serving
15in various offices and as a deacon and elder; he was a member
16of the Moline Elks and the Moline Jaycees; he was a coach in
17the East Moline Youth Baseball/Softball organization; he loved
18gardening, reading, and was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs
19and die-hard Illini fan; most of all he enjoyed attending his
20grandsons' activities, they were the light of his life; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Donald Swanson was preceded in death by his

1parents; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Donald Swanson is survived by his wife, Marcia;
3his children, Lynne Swanson, Jackie (Tim) Flemming, and Stephen
4Swanson; three grandsons, Aaron, Ethan, and Tyler Flemming; his
5sister, Elaine (Jim) Nelson; his stepfather, Marvin Schiess;
6and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Donald E. Swanson Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Donald Swanson as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
