SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Everett A. Thompson formally of Rural
4Township, who passed away on April 27, 2017 at the age of 94;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Everett Thompson was born to William and Elizabeth
7Thompson; he was a true member of the "Greatest Generation" and
8served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the
9destroyer USS Macomb (DD-458); he saw action off the coast of
10North Africa, in Italy, and in the North Atlantic; he served in
11the Pacific Theater during the invasion of Okinawa; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Everett Thompson owned and operated his own farm
13while also working at John Deere Harvester for more than 25
14years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Everett Thompson was a loving husband and father
16and will be greatly missed by his small but loving family; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Everett Thompson was preceded in death by his
18parents; his brothers, Bill, Vernon, and Richard; and his
19sisters, Violet and Adeline; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Everett Thompson is survived by his wife of 71

1years, Ruth; his daughter, Alene (George) Humphrey; his
2grandson, Michael; and his great-grandchildren, Kathryn Rose
3and Ryan; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Everett A. Thompson, and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Everett Thompson as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
