SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald Dean Walden Sr. of Joliet, who
4passed away on May 20, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Walden was born to Grace (Deutschman) and
6Elmer Walden on January 15, 1931; he attended Joliet grade
7schools, Joliet Township High School, and Joliet Junior
8College; he served in the United States Navy during the Korean
9War; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Donald Walden retired from Illinois Bell
11(Ameritech) after 37 years of service; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Donald Walden was a lifetime member of American
13Legion Post #1080 and served as the commander on seven
14different occasions; he was a member of the Legion Band Color
15Guard and volunteered for many local causes; he held
16memberships in various clubs and organizations including the
17Port Authority of Lewis University Airport, the City of Joliet
18Planning Commission, the board of Abraham Lincoln National
19Cemetery, VFW Cantigny Post #367, the Will County Project Pride
20(Chairman), the Associated Clubs of Will County, the Disabled
21American Veterans, the American Legion Riders, the Veterans
22Assistance Commission, and Sons of the American Legion; he was

1also a Troy Township Trustee for over 30 years and a member of
2Grace United Methodist Church; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Donald Walden is survived by his wife of 57 years,
4Carol (Clemens); his children, Brian (Lisa) Walden and Don
5(Dena) Walden Jr.; and his grandchildren, Colin and Tyler
6Walden; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Donald Dean Walden Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Donald Walden as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
