SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John J. Benedict of Moline, who passed
4away on June 24, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Benedict was born in El Paso to Frank and
6Florence Krones Benedict on June 22, 1939; he served as a
7corporal in the United States Marines, where he was a guard for
8the U.S. Embassy in Vienna, Austria; he married Laura L. Aucutt
9in El Paso on January 15, 1966; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Benedict retired from the Caterpillar
11Tractor Co. in 1987; he later opened and operated Benny's Pizza
12in Milan from 1988 until 2008; and
 
13    WHEREAS, John Benedict enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing
14cards, and working on home improvement projects; he never met a
15stranger and spent time with friends any chance that he could;
16he loved spending time with his family, especially traveling
17with his wife, children, and grandchildren; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Benedict was preceded in death by his
19sisters, Mary and Gerry, and his brothers, Vernon and Harold;
20and

1    WHEREAS, John Benedict is survived by his wife, Laura; his
2children, Kelly (Roger) Nelson, Kevin Benedict, and Kristen
3(Chad) Dillavou; his grandchildren, Chris DePorter, Philip,
4Sarah, and Charlie Nelson, Ellie and Korbin Benedict, and
5Callie and Evie Dillavou; his sister, Rose (Joe) Hayes; and his
6sister-in-law, Pauline Benedict; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9John J. Benedict, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of John Benedict as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
