SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Walter H. Geuther of Rock Island, who
4passed away on June 18, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Walter Geuther was born in Chicago to Phillip and
6Anna Geuther on March 29, 1927; he served in the United States
7Navy during World War II; he played drums with the band "Bub
8and his Boys"; in his youth, he was active in the Boy Scouts;
9he married Norma Jean Stillwell in Leland on June 25, 1955; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Walter Geuther was employed by Burlington
11Northern Railroad for 36 years, retiring as train master in
121982; he then worked for Trimble Funeral Homes for 22 years,
13retiring in 2004; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Walter Geuther was a member of Leland Lodge No.
15558, AF & AM; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline; the
16Amateur Radio Relay League; and the Quad City Amateur Radio
17Club; he operated amateur radio station K9AHH, enjoyed
18bicycling, exercising and fishing, and was an avid fan of the
19Chicago Cubs and college basketball; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Walter Geuther was preceded in death by his wife,
21Norma Jean; and

1    WHEREAS, Walter Geuther is survived by his children and
2their spouses, Pam and John Walsh, Debra Moore, Judy and Bill
3Cleaver, and Jeffrey and Christine Geuther; eight
4grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Ernie
5Basler and his wife, Shirley, and Vera Baker; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Walter H. Geuther, and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Walter Geuther as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
