SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James J. Aitken of Rock Island, who
4passed away on July 8, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Aitken was born in Rock Island to James C.
6and Ester M. Kratzer Aitken on March 11, 1929; he married Helen
7Mullens in Rock Island on February 4, 1967; and
 
8    WHEREAS, James Aitken retired from the United States Army
9after 37 years; he served during World War II and the Korean
10War; his second profession was an electronics technician; and
 
11    WHEREAS, James Aitken was a member of Edgewood Baptist
12Church in Rock Island and Moline American Legion Post 246; he
13enjoyed working on all things electronic and playing the piano,
14keyboard, and guitar; and
 
15    WHEREAS, James Aitken was preceded in death by his parents;
16his sisters, Margarete Eckhardt and Agnes Brandle; and his
17daughter-in-law, Florenza McClay; and
 
18    WHEREAS, James Aitken is survived by his wife, Helen
19Aitken; his children, James Aitken Jr., Russell (Evah) McClay,
20Sheri (Robert) Luckenbihl, Thomas (Mary) Aitken, Victoria

1Jeffers, Bruce McClay, and Susanne (Thomas) Parker; 11
2grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and
3nephews; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6James J. Aitken, and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of James Aitken as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
