SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Melvin C. Wilmsmeyer of Granite City, who
4passed away on August 18, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Melvin Wilmsmeyer was born in New Franklin,
6Missouri to Emil and Johanna (Stratmann) Wilmsmeyer on February
718, 1931; he proudly served in the United States Marines during
8the Korean War from 1952 to 1954; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Melvin Wilmsmeyer was a national bank examiner
10until moving to Granite City in 1965, where he became the
11President/CEO of First Granite City National Bank; he retired
12in 1993; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Melvin Wilmsmeyer enjoyed spending time at his
14farm in New Douglas, and at the farm where he grew up in New
15Franklin, Missouri; he also enjoyed spending time with his
16grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was very active in
17the Granite City community; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Melvin Wilmsmeyer was preceded in death by his
19parents; his sisters, Rosalie Schupp and Mildred Wilmsmeyer;
20and his brother, Richard Wilmsmeyer; and

1    WHEREAS, Melvin Wilmsmeyer is survived by his wife of 60
2years, Janet (Klenklen); his children, Daniel (Diana)
3Wilmsmeyer, Douglas (Tracy) Wilmsmeyer, David (Jennifer)
4Wilmsmeyer, Donna (Todd) Burns, Deanne (Frank) Laub, Dennis
5(Julie) Wilmsmeyer, Debra Wilmsmeyer, and Darla (Lindell)
6Bishop; his grandchildren, Kyle (Amanda) Wilmsmeyer, Katie
7(Ben) Martin, Corey (Jennifer) Wilmsmeyer, Emilee (Scott)
8Dufford, Matthew (Amanda) Wilmsmeyer, Kelsey (Zach) Jarvis,
9Loree (Will) Carvelot, Marcus (Carrie) Wilmsmeyer, Kari Laub,
10Miranda Wilmsmeyer, Nicholas, Jacob, Olivia, Analiese, Ella,
11Isabella, Joshua, Nathan, and Benjamin Wilmsmeyer, Luke
12Wilmsmeyer, and Hannah and Jonah Bishop; his
13great-grandchildren, Lily and Hunter Wilmsmeyer, Sophia and
14Evie Jo Martin, Delaney and McKinley Dufford, and Kenny
15Wilmsmeyer; his siblings, Hugo (Donna) Wilmsmeyer, Ruth
16(Jerry) Watson, Ralph Wilmsmeyer, and Helen (Darrell) Oser; and
17numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and
18friends; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Melvin C. Wilmsmeyer, and extend our sincere condolences to his
22family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
23further
 
24    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
