SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph R. Mendoza of Rock Island, who
4passed away on September 5, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joseph Mendoza was born in Moline to Demetrio and
6Juanita Mata Mendoza on March 13, 1929; he married Josephine G.
7Arguello in Bettendorf on May 31, 1958; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Joseph Mendoza served in the United States Army
9and was a veteran of the Korean War; following his military
10service, he was employed at John Deere Harvester Works in East
11Moline for 32 years; he was a member of the United Auto Workers
12Local 865; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Joseph Mendoza enjoyed vegetable gardening,
14cooking, playing cards, listening to Mexican music, taking
15scenic drives, and traveling to California, Las Vegas, and the
16casinos; he dedicated his life to caring for his family,
17especially his son, Matthew; he will be fondly remembered as a
18loving husband, father, and grandfather; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Joseph Mendoza was preceded in death by his
20parents; his siblings, Josephine Morales, Inez Morales,
21Phillip Mendoza, Frances Herrera, Lupe Martinez, and Maria

1Luisa Mendoza; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Joseph Mendoza is survived by his wife, Josephine;
3his sons, Thomas Mendoza, Steven (Patty) Mendoza, Dixon, and
4Matthew Mendoza; his grandsons, Steven Joseph Mendoza and
5Michael David Mendoza; his brother, Angelo Mendoza; and his
6many nieces, nephews, and other family members; therefore, be
7it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Joseph R. Mendoza, and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Joseph Mendoza as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
