SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of George A. Herrmann of Moline, who passed
4away on September 30, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, George Herrmann was born in Cherokee County, Iowa
6to Edward and Dr. Laura Herrmann in 1935; he graduated from
7high school in Davenport, Iowa and served eight years in the
8United States Army, two years of active duty and six years in
9the reserve; he married Janice Vinzant in Crawfordsville, Iowa
10on August 29, 1958; and
 
11    WHEREAS, George Herrmann worked numerous jobs before
12becoming a supervisor at Oscar Mayer in Davenport; and
 
13    WHEREAS, George Herrmann was a dedicated father; he
14co-founded the Blue Marlins Swim Team and enjoyed traveling,
15camping, playing cards, and dining out; in retirement, he
16enjoyed following the sporting events of his grandchildren and
17great-grandchildren; he loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and
18followed the Chicago Bulls, Bears, and Cubs; he was thrilled to
19see his beloved Cubs win the World Series in 2016; and
 
20    WHEREAS, George Herrmann was preceded in death by his
21parents; his wife, Janice; and his brothers, Dr. Edward and

1Gary Herrmann; and
 
2    WHEREAS, George Herrmann is survived by his children, Susan
3(Stan) Gustafson, Gary Herrmann, and Laura (John) O'Melia; his
4grandchildren, Barbi, Christopher, Sean, and Kevin; and his
5great-grandchildren, Tristan, Taran, Blayklee, and Tameron;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9George A. Herrmann, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of George Herrmann as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
