SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lewis Rhodell Ricketts of Rapids City,
4who passed away on November 6, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lewis Ricketts was born in Davenport to Lewis W.
6and Gladys Wells Ricketts on April 19, 1925; he married
7Patricia J. Slininger in Rapids City on December 9, 1945; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Lewis Ricketts served honorably in the United
9States Navy during World War II; he spent many years working
10for the Rock Island Lines as a blacksmith; later, he became a
11rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in
12Port Byron; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Lewis Ricketts was dedicated to his church; he was
14a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Lewis Ricketts was preceded in death by his
16parents; his brothers, Richard and Raymond; and his
17granddaughter, Sarah Zugg; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Lewis Ricketts is survived by his wife, Patricia;
19his children, Rita (Jay) Delmar, Carolyn (Bruce) Miller, and
20Delena (Lavern) Jackson; his sister, Phyllis Entwhistle; his

1sister-in-law, Trudy Ricketts; his nine grandchildren; his 13
2great-grandchildren; and his great-great-grandchild;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Lewis Rhodell Ricketts and extend our sincere condolences to
7his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Lewis Ricketts as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
