SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ralph J. Lewis Jr. of Rock Island, who
4passed away on December 9, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ralph Lewis Jr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana
6to Ralph Jonas Sr. and Carmelite Lewis on August 29, 1948; he
7served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970 and
8completed a tour in Vietnam; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ralph Lewis Jr. retired from Kone Elevators and
10Escalators, where he was a machinist and excelled in his CDL
11program; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ralph Lewis Jr. took pride in caring for his
13family; he enjoyed modifying vehicles and building and
14refurbishing anything he could get his hands on; he was an
15active member of Altered Images, Hap's Cruisin' into the
16Sunset, and the Quad City Jeep Jammers; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Ralph Lewis Jr. was preceded in death by his
18parents; his sister, Carolyn Harris; and his nephew, Andrew
19Bourdeaux; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Ralph Lewis Jr. is survived by his son, Jonas D.

1Austin; his daughter, Sierra E. Austin; his stepchildren, Tiana
2and Dante Austin; his sisters, Yvonne Brockington, Delores
3Morris, June Green, and Cheryl Bourdeaux; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Ralph J. Lewis Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Ralph Lewis Jr. as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
