2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Madelyn Mae Duel, who passed away on |
4 | | December 2, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Madelyn Duel was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin to |
6 | | Gustav and Selma (Treptau) Kressin on May 6, 1928; she was |
7 | | raised and educated in Kenosha and received her bachelor's |
8 | | degree in accounting from the University of |
9 | | Wisconsin-Parkside; she married Ward C. Duel at Friedens |
10 | | Lutheran Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin on October 21, 1950; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Madelyn Duel and her husband lived in Platteville, |
12 | | Wisconsin and then Kenosha, before residing in Ingleside and |
13 | | Pistakee Highlands for many years; she was a homemaker and |
14 | | mother; in her later years, she went back to work in the |
15 | | accounting field, working for Curran Contracting for |
16 | | approximately eight years and assisting many small businesses |
17 | | with their accounting needs; she also worked as a teacher's |
18 | | assistant with elementary school children in McHenry for a few |
19 | | years; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Madelyn Duel was a member of Peace Lutheran Church |
21 | | in Wilmot, Wisconsin; she was a former member of Good Shepherd |
22 | | Lutheran Church in Lake Villa and Bethany Lutheran Church in |

1 | | Kenosha; she enjoyed working on her computer and loved spending |
2 | | time with her family; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Madelyn Duel was preceded in death by her parents; |
4 | | her husband, Ward; her brother, Col. Harold Kressin U.S. Army |
5 | | Ret.; and her sister, Gladys; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Madelyn Duel is survived by her son, W. Rick |
7 | | (Karen) Duel; her daughters, Christine (Richard) Burke, |
8 | | Roxanne (Nico) Derni, and Betsy (Bert) Fredericksen; her |
9 | | grandchildren, Yolande (Jana) Derni, Ryan (Ryan) Derni, Thomas |
10 | | (Ellie) Burke, and Michelle (Steven) Blankenship; her |
11 | | great-grandchildren, Sydney, Emmit, Emily, and Anne; and her |
12 | | brother, Gus Kressin; therefore, be it
|
13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | Madelyn Mae Duel, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
17 | | further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Madelyn Duel as an expression of our |
20 | | deepest sympathy.
