SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Duaine D. Carlson of Milan, who passed
4away on January 17, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson was born in Milan to John and
6Margaret Carothers Carlson on October 4, 1931; he served in the
7United States Army during the Korean War; he earned his
8associate's degree from Black Hawk College; he married Marie E.
9Rathbun at the Milan Presbyterian Church on May 22, 1955; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson worked as a reporter at the
11Argus-Dispatch, where he was the Mercer County Bureau Chief for
12many years; he also worked as a counselor at the East Moline
13Correctional Center and as a customer service dispatcher at
14Iowa/Illinois Gas and Electric; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson was a former member of Taylor Ridge
16Methodist Church, where he served as the church organist for
17many years; currently, he was a member of the First
18Presbyterian Church, Milan and the Reynolds American Legion
19Post 1166; he was a humble man who greatly enjoyed reading
20history books and writing; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson was preceded in death by his wife,

1Marie; his daughter, Kathy; his father, John Carlson; his
2stepfather, James Danielson; and his sister, Beverly (Russell)
3Allers; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson is survived by his son, David; his
5mother, Margaret Danielson, his brother, Gareld (Judy)
6Danielson; and his many nieces, nephews, and other loving
7family members and friends; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Duaine D. Carlson and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Duaine D. Carlson as an expression
15of our deepest sympathy.
