SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Russell L. Hartwick, formerly of
4Andalusia, who passed away on March 18, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Russell Hartwick was born in Lucan, Minnesota to
6Everett and Hattie (Dagner) Hartwick on July 9, 1930; at the
7age of 18, he became a teacher in a rural, one-room schoolhouse
8for grades one through eight; and
 
9    WHEREAS, After teaching for four years, he enlisted in the
10United States Air Force as a communications specialist; his
11service included 13 months stationed at Thule Air Force Base in
12Thule, Greenland during the Korean War; after serving his
13country for four years, he attended the University of
14Wisconsin, Milwaukee, where he received his degree in
15accounting; and
 
16    WHEREAS, While attending the University of Wisconsin,
17Milwaukee, Russell Hartwick worked for a division of General
18Motors, where he helped make missile guidance systems; while
19there, he met LaRayne Crandall, who later became his wife;
20after working for Wisconsin and the federal government, he
21started his own accounting firm and retired as a certified
22public accountant after 34 years; and

1    WHEREAS, Russell Hartwick was preceded in death by his
2parents and his brother and sister-in-law, LaVerne and Barbara
3Hartwick; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Russell Hartwick is survived by his wife, LaRayne;
5his sons, Jeff (Betty) and Bob (Emily); his grandchildren,
6Brad, Sara, Olivia, Kyle, Tristan, James, Lauren, Abigail,
7Seth, Lillian, and Teresa; and his great-granddaughter,
8Maddison; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Russell L. Hartwick and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Russell Hartwick as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
