SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Glenn A. Wells of Rock Island, who passed
4away on April 18, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Glenn Wells was born in Rock Island to Glenn
6Thaddeus and Ruth Christine Weigand Wells on September 9, 1932;
7he graduated from Alleman High School in Rock Island and
8received his associate's degree in engineering and labor
9relations from Black Hawk College; he served in the United
10States Air Force and married Mary Helene Mart in Rock Island on
11June 8, 1957; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Glenn Wells worked for many years at TriCity
13Blueprint in Moline; he founded and retired from Quad City
14Reprographics; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Glenn Wells was a member of St. Pius X Catholic
16Church in Rock Island, where he served as a Eucharistic
17Minister; he was a member and former Grand Knight of Allouez
18Council 658, Knights of Columbus and Father Edward J. Bader
19Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, where he served as
20Faithful Navigator; he was recognized as a Knight of Knights by
21the Peoria Diocese Knights of Columbus; other memberships
22include former president of the Moline Exchange Club, Moline

1American Legion Post 246, Moose International, and Friends of
2the Rock Island Library; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Glenn Wells was a volunteer for many years with
4the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, John Deere Golf
5Classic, Birdies for Charity, Junior Achievement, and the
6Moline Activity Center, where he taught computer classes; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Glenn Wells and his wife welcomed several foster
8children into their home; he loved spending time with his
9family and friends; in his earlier years, he coached youth
10basketball and sports teams, and enjoyed bowling in area
11leagues; he was an avid golfer and Green Bay Packers fan; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Glenn Wells was preceded in death by his parents;
13his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale and Loretta Mart; his
14brothers-in-law, Raymond Welvaert, Francis "Bud" Fobert, and
15Richard Guise; and his sister-in-law, Nellie Wells; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Glenn Wells is survived by his wife, Mary; his
17children, Paul Wells, Lisa Wells, Laurie (Robert) Potratz, Mark
18(Theresa) Wells, Kristy (Robert) Meyers, and David (Miranda)
19Wells; his special daughter, Mary Bateman; his grandchildren,
20Adam (Cara) Wells, Alec Wells, Alyssa Meyers, Hannah Meyers,
21Meghan Wells, Nathan Wells, Jason Wells, and Grace Potratz; his
22great-grandchildren, Clayton and Emmitt; his sisters, Shirley

1Welvaert, Joan Guise, and Patricia (Joseph) DePover; his
2brother, Raymond Wells; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other
3family; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Glenn A. Wells, and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Glenn Wells as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
