SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph H. "Joe" Van Hecke of Rock Island,
4who passed away on April 29, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joe Van Hecke was born in Moline to Paul and
6Justina (Hershop) Van Hecke on June 10, 1925; he married Martha
7Veeder at St. Mary's Rectory in Moline on June 9, 1947; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Joe Van Hecke was a veteran of the United States
9Navy, where he served as a torpedoman in the Submarine Corps
10and later as a corpsman with a Marine division; he worked as a
11mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 33 years
12and retired in 1982; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Joe Van Hecke was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
14Church in Rock Island; he enjoyed golfing, carpentry work, and
15watching the Chicago Cubs; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Joe Van Hecke was preceded in death by his
17sisters, Madeline Van DenHende, Germaine Tanghe, and Irene De
18Wilde; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Joe Van Hecke is survived by his wife, Martha; his
20daughter, Cyndy Anderson; his grandson, Scott (Andrea)

2Wyatt; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Joseph H. "Joe" Van Hecke and extend our sincere condolences to
6his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Joe Van Hecke as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
