SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jon Paul Gentry of Tallula, who passed
4away on July 4, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jon Gentry was born in Vinita, Oklahoma to Claude
6and Kathryn (Goodman) Gentry on November 11, 1928; he joined
7the National Guard as a radio operator and proudly served
8during the Korean conflict; he married Violet Mae Hamilton in
9Vinita, Oklahoma on May 27, 1958; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jon Gentry was a former member of the First United
11Methodist Church, a former senior member of the Society of
12Broadcast Engineers, and a past Master of Masonic Lodge #5 in
13Vinita, Oklahoma; he was a member of the IBT Sunday School
14Class, the Telephone Pioneers, the American Legion, the Order
15of the Eastern Star, the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, and a
16charter member of the Tulsa Consistory; he was an amateur radio
17operator for over 60 years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jon Gentry was preceded in death by his parents;
19his grandmother, Pauline Patton; and his grandson, Brandon
20Gentry; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jon Gentry is survived by his wife, Violet; his

1children, Paula Gentry, Lisa Gentry, and Jon (Elaine) Gentry;
2his 11 grandchildren; and his four great-grandchildren;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Jon Paul Gentry and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Jon Gentry as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
