SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William "Bill" Hansen, formerly of East
4Moline, who passed away on May 12, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Hansen was born in Dixon to William and
6Lenora Miller Hansen on July 20, 1927; he served in the U.S.
7Navy during both World War II and the Korean War and received
8several decorations; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bill Hansen was in the aviation industry for many
10years, retiring as chief inspector for Union Flights in
11Sacramento, California; he established the aviation program at
12the School of the Ozarks; he was a commercial pilot, a member
13of and examiner for the Experimental Aircraft Association
14(EAA), and founder and president of the EAA chapter in
15Springfield, Missouri; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bill Hansen was a member of the Blackhawk Gem and
17Mineral Club, the Moline Horticultural Club, American Legion
18Post 246, and VFW Post 2153; he was an avid reader and enjoyed
19many hobbies, including building scale model ships and boats,
20mineral collecting, lapidary and silversmithing, photography,
21computers, flying, and gardening; and

1    WHEREAS, Bill Hansen was preceded in death by his brother,
2Lawrence Hansen; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Bill Hansen is survived by his children, Cynthia
4Bevelheimer, William (Donna) Hansen, Charles (Kimberly)
5Hansen, and Daniel Hansen; 10 grandchildren; and eight
6great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9William "Bill" Hansen, and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Bill Hansen as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
