SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard Lee "Dick" Medd of Moline, who
4passed away on June 15, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Medd served during World War II in the U.S.
6Army Air Corps as a B-29 navigator; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dick Medd was a successful businessman (Dairy
8Queen, Medd-O-Lane Dairy); he was a pioneer in the Dairy Queen
9franchise, helping to develop, protect, and promote the DQ
10brand nationally; he spread soft serve ice cream and jobs
11across the Midwest and the eastern part of the United States;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dick Medd was musician and 32nd degree Mason; he
14was best at being a husband, dad, and grandpa; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dick Medd was preceded in death by his parents,
16Cecil and Mildred Medd, and his brothers, William, Ralph, and
17Ronald Medd; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dick Medd is survived by his wife of 73 years,
19Alberta (Bert) Medd; his children, Gary Medd (Jean), James Medd
20(Sandy), Judy Schuler (Jere), and Rich Medd (Stacey); his

1grandchildren, David Medd, Cynthia Sanger, Christy Medd, Kori
2Medd, Grant Kilgard, Wayne Kilgard, Celia Schnupp, Gabriel
3Medd, Kellie Coy, and Jason Schuler; 24 great-grandchildren;
4his brother, Robert (Nancy) Medd; and numerous family members,
5colleagues, and friends; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Richard Lee "Dick" Medd, and extend our sincere condolences to
9his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Dick Medd as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
