SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph H. Whitson of Milan, who passed
4away on August 11, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joseph Whitson was born in Davenport, Iowa to
6Theodore and Maudie Collier Whitson on August 13, 1947; he
7graduated from Davenport West High School; he served in the
8United States Navy during the Vietnam War; he married Wendi Jo
9Stevenson on February 23, 2002; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Joseph Whitson was a professional truck driver and
11was employed by Nussbaum Transportation for 34 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Joseph Whitson was a member of Teamster Local 371,
13Rock Island, the Davenport Moose Lodge, and Goodguys Rod &
14Custom Association; in his earlier years, he coached girls
15slow-pitch softball; he was an avid fan of classic cars and
16enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his
17grandchildren; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Joseph Whitson was preceded in death by his
19parents and his granddaughter, Sloane Terhune; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Joseph Whitson is survived by his wife, Wendi Jo;

1his children, Rene (John) Charles, Terry (Peggy) Whitson,
2Michael (Lisa) Laughlin, Jamie (Kris) Laughlin, and Sarah
3(Charles) Terhune; his grandchildren, A.J. Charles, Justin
4Solis, Sidney and Emily Laughlin, Nick Angelos, Charlie
5Terhune, Lindsay Begyn, Liz Cavazos, Alicia and Michael
6Townley, and Taylor Graebur; his great-grandchildren, Lylah,
7Ivan, Keegan, Allyson, Rollin, Wheeler, and Paisley; his
8brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Jill Whitson; his sister,
9Sandy Thompson; his close friend, Chuck Thompson; and his many
10nieces, nephews, and other family; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Joseph H. Whitson and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Joseph Whitson as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
