SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lowell "Whitey" Reiser of Hampshire, who
4passed away on August 6, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lowell Reiser was born in Burlington to Edward and
6Lorena (Seyller) Reiser on March 6, 1931; he graduated from
7Hampshire High School in 1949; he served in the United States
8Army during the Korean Conflict; he married Arlene Engel at St.
9Charles Borromeo Church in Hampshire on February 9, 1952; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Lowell Reiser retired from the Masonite
11Corporation, now International Paper Co.; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Lowell Reiser was a life member and past Commander
13of the Hampshire Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8043 and a
14member of the American Legion Post 57 of Elgin; he was also a
15member of the Burlington/Hampshire Senior Citizens, the
16Hampshire Historical Society, the Fox Valley Model T Club, and
17the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club; he was a lifelong and
18active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church; in May
192015, he was honored as Veteran of the Month for community
20service by the City of Elgin; in 2013, he received the Earl
21Engel Award for community service in Hampshire Township; and

1    WHEREAS, Lowell Reiser was preceded in death by his
2parents; his grandson, Jason Lichthardt; his brother, Floyd
3Reiser; and his brothers-in-law, Norman Deihs, Gayland
4Schendel, and Morris Kiefer; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lowell Reiser is survived by his wife, Arlene; his
6daughter, Darlene (Dale) Lichthardt; his son, Daryl (Helen)
7Reiser; his grandchildren, Amy and Joseph Dobzynski, Daniel and
8Ashley Lichthardt, and Randy Reiser; his stepgrandson, John
9Burton; his great-granddaughters, Eileen Dobzynski, and Grace
10and Sophia Lichthardt; and his sisters, Leila Deihs, Rita
11Kiefer, Joan (Henry) Thies, and Jean Schendel; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Lowell "Whitey" Reiser and extend our sincere condolences to
15his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Lowell Reiser as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
