SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Leslie A. Schotka of East Moline, who
4passed away on October 30, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leslie Schotka was born in Estherville, Iowa to
6Frank and Ethereal Palmer Schotka Sr. on July 13, 1929; he
7served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict; he
8married Theresa DeTaeye in East Moline on February 14, 1953;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Leslie Schotka retired from the former Case IH in
111991, after 43 years of service; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Leslie Schotka was a member of Our Lady of
13Guadalupe Catholic Church in Silvis and the United Auto Workers
14Local 1304; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Leslie Schotka was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs
16and enjoyed watching college football and NHRA drag racing; he
17was a railroad enthusiast and enjoyed attending the monthly
18gatherings of the Local 1304 retirees at Maid-Rite; he was a
19devoted husband and provider for his family; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Leslie Schotka is survived by his wife, Theresa;

1his children, Kathleen (Tom) Davis, Linda (Drake) Johnson, Mary
2Scott, Ann (Al) Schneider, and Martin Schotka; his ten
3grandchildren; his 12 great-grandchildren; his two
4great-great-grandchildren; and his brother, Frank Schotka Jr.;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Leslie A. Schotka and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Leslie Schotka as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
