1 | AN ACT concerning government.
| ||||||
2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | ||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
4 | Section 5. The State Fire Marshal Act is amended by | ||||||
5 | changing Section 3 as follows:
| ||||||
6 | (20 ILCS 2905/3) (from Ch. 127 1/2, par. 3)
| ||||||
7 | Sec. 3.
There is created the Illinois Fire Advisory | ||||||
8 | Commission which
shall advise the Office in the exercise of its | ||||||
9 | powers and duties. The
Commission shall be appointed by the | ||||||
10 | Governor as follows:
| ||||||
11 | 3 professional, fulltime paid firefighters;
| ||||||
12 | one volunteer firefighter;
| ||||||
13 | one Fire Protection Engineer who is registered in
| ||||||
14 | Illinois;
| ||||||
15 | one person who is a representative of the Fire
| ||||||
16 | Insurance industry in Illinois; and
| ||||||
17 | one person who is a representative of a
| ||||||
18 | registered United States Department of Labor
| ||||||
19 | apprenticeship program primarily instructing
| ||||||
20 | in the installation and repair of
| ||||||
21 | fire extinguishing systems;
| ||||||
22 | one a licensed operating or stationary engineer who
| ||||||
23 | has an associate degree in facilities engineering
|
| |||||||
| |||||||
1 | technology and has knowledge of the operation and
| ||||||
2 | maintennce of fire alarm and fire extinguishing
| ||||||
3 | systems primarily for the life safety of occupants
| ||||||
4 | in a variety of commercial or residential
| ||||||
5 | structures; and
| ||||||
6 | 3 persons with an interest in and knowledgeable
| ||||||
7 | about fire prevention methods.
| ||||||
8 | In addition, the following shall serve as ex officio | ||||||
9 | members of the
Commission: the Chicago Fire Commissioner, or | ||||||
10 | his designee; the
executive officer, or his designee of each of | ||||||
11 | the following
organizations: the Illinois Fire Chiefs | ||||||
12 | Association, the Illinois Fire
Protection District | ||||||
13 | Association, the Illinois Fire Inspectors
Association, the | ||||||
14 | Illinois Professional Firefighters Association, the
Illinois | ||||||
15 | Firemen's Association, the Associated Firefighters of | ||||||
16 | Illinois,
the Illinois Society of Fire Service Instructors
and | ||||||
17 | the Fire Service Institute, University of Illinois.

18 | The Governor shall designate, at the time of appointment, 3 | ||||||
19 | members
to serve terms expiring on the third Monday in January, | ||||||
20 | 1979; 3 members
to serve terms expiring the third Monday in | ||||||
21 | January, 1980; and 2 members
to serve terms expiring the third | ||||||
22 | Monday in January, 1981. The
additional member appointed by the | ||||||
23 | Governor pursuant to this amendatory Act
of 1987 shall serve | ||||||
24 | for a term expiring the third Monday in January, 1990. | ||||||
25 | Thereafter,
all terms shall be for 3 years. A member shall | ||||||
26 | serve until his or her
successor is appointed and qualified. A |

1 | vacancy shall be filled for the
unexpired term.
| ||||||
2 | The Governor shall designate one of the appointed members | ||||||
3 | to be
chairman of the Commission.
| ||||||
4 | Members shall serve without compensation but shall be | ||||||
5 | reimbursed for
their actual reasonable expenses incurred in the | ||||||
6 | performance of their
duties.
