SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
50 ILCS 705/10.12

    Amends the Illinois Police Training Act. Provides that all police dogs used by State and local law enforcement agencies for drug enforcement purposes under the Cannabis Control Act, the Illinois Controlled Substances Act, and the Methamphetamine Control and Community Protection Act shall be trained by programs that meet the minimum certification requirements set by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board, except for those certification requirements for drug enforcement purposes under the Cannabis Control Act or any drug enforcement purpose with respect to cannabis on or after the effective date of the amendatory Act if and only if recreational use of cannabis is enacted. Makes technical changes. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by
5changing Section 10.12 as follows:
 
6    (50 ILCS 705/10.12)
7    Sec. 10.12. Police dog training standards. All Beginning
8July 1, 2012, all police dogs used by State and local law
9enforcement agencies for drug enforcement purposes under
10pursuant to the Cannabis Control Act (720 ILCS 550/), the
11Illinois Controlled Substances Act (720 ILCS 570/), and the
12Methamphetamine Control and Community Protection Act (720 ILCS
13646/) shall be trained by programs that meet the minimum
14certification requirements set by the Board, except for those
15certification requirements for drug enforcement purposes under
16the Cannabis Control Act or any drug enforcement purpose with
17respect to cannabis on or after the effective date of this
18amendatory Act of the 101st General Assembly, if and only if
19recreational use of cannabis is enacted.

21    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
22becoming law.
