2 | | prevention, cure, screening, and treatment of pediatric and |
3 | | rare diseases in children. The grant funds may not be used for |
4 | | institutional, organizational, or community-based overhead or |
5 | | other indirect costs. The Department may use moneys in the |
6 | | Pediatric and Rare Disease in Children Research Fund to provide |
7 | | additional funding to existing programs that are funded by the |
8 | | Childhood Cancer Research Fund. |
9 | | Section 10. The Illinois Income Tax Act is amended by |
10 | | adding Section 507JJJ as follows: |

12 | | Sec. 507JJJ. The Pediatric and Rare Disease in Children |
13 | | Research Fund checkoff. For taxable years ending on or after |
14 | | December 31, 2019, the Department must print on its standard |
15 | | individual income tax form a provision (i) indicating that if |
16 | | the taxpayer wishes to contribute to the Pediatric and Rare |
17 | | Disease in Children Research Fund, he or she may do so by |
18 | | stating the amount of the contribution (not less than $1) on |
19 | | the return and (ii) stating that the contribution will reduce |
20 | | the taxpayer's refund or increase the amount of payment to |
21 | | accompany the return. Failure to remit any amount of increased |
22 | | payment shall reduce the contribution accordingly. This |
23 | | Section does not apply to any amended return.
