SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
70 ILCS 2805/4.1  from Ch. 42, par. 415.1

    Amends the Sanitary District Act of 1936. Removes the ability of the board of trustees of a sanitary district to provide group life, health, accident, hospital and medical insurance, or any one or any combination of such types of insurance to trustees. Effective January 1, 2020.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Sanitary District Act of 1936 is amended by
5changing Section 4.1 as follows:
 
6    (70 ILCS 2805/4.1)  (from Ch. 42, par. 415.1)
7    Sec. 4.1. The board of trustees of any sanitary district
8may arrange to provide for the benefit of employees and
9trustees of the sanitary district group life, health, accident,
10hospital and medical insurance, or any one or any combination
11of such types of insurance. Such insurance may include
12provision for employees and trustees who rely on treatment by
13prayer or spiritual means alone for healing in accordance with
14the tenets and practice of a well recognized religious
15denomination. The board of trustees may provide for payment by
16the sanitary district of the premium or charge for such
17insurance.
18    On and after January 1, 2020, no benefit under this Section
19may be provided to trustees.
20    If the board of trustees do not provide for a plan pursuant
21to which the sanitary district pays the premium or charge for
22any group insurance plan, the board of trustees may provide for
23the withholding and deducting from the compensation of such of

1the employees and trustees as consent thereto the premium or
2charge for any group life, health, accident, hospital and
3medical insurance.
4    The board of trustees may exercise the powers granted in
5this section only if the kinds of such group insurance are
6obtained from any insurance company authorized to do business
7in the State of Illinois or any other organization or service
8offering similar coverage. The board of trustees may enact an
9ordinance prescribing the method of operations of such
10insurance program.

12    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January
131, 2020.
