SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
410 ILCS 620/21.5 new

    Amends the Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. Provides that manufacturers of contact lenses shall provide information on product packaging regarding how to properly dispose of contact lenses. Provides that the information shall include, at minimum, that proper disposal of contact lenses includes placing the contact lenses with other solid waste and does not include flushing contact lenses down a sink or other drain.

1    AN ACT concerning health.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act is
5amended by adding Section 21.5 as follows:
 
6    (410 ILCS 620/21.5 new)
7    Sec. 21.5. Contact lens package label. Manufacturers of
8contact lenses shall provide information on product packaging
9regarding how to properly dispose of contact lenses. The
10information shall include, at minimum, that proper disposal of
11contact lenses includes placing the contact lenses with other
12solid waste and does not include flushing contact lenses down a
13sink or other drain.
