Amends the School Code. Provides that, notwithstanding any other provision of law, beginning on the effective date of the amendatory Act, all referenda containing public questions pertaining to the issuance of bonds must be submitted to the voters of a school district at the next general election in accordance with the general election law. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section |
5 | | 9-1.1 as follows:
|

7 | | Sec. 9-1.1. Referenda. |
8 | | (a) Whenever a proposition or public question is
required |
9 | | to be submitted pursuant to this Code Act for approval or |
10 | | rejection
by the electorate at an election, the time and manner |
11 | | of conducting such
referendum shall be in accordance with the |
12 | | general election law of the State.

13 | | (b) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, beginning |
14 | | on the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 101st |
15 | | General Assembly, all referenda containing public questions |
16 | | pertaining to the issuance of bonds under this Code must be |
17 | | submitted to the voters of a school district at the next |
18 | | general election in accordance with the general election law. |
19 | | This subsection does not apply to public questions submitted |
20 | | prior to the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 101st |
21 | | General Assembly. |
