HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of the
4Honorable Charles Patrick "Charlie" Connor, who passed away on
5February 10, 2019; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Judge Connor was born in Joliet to John F. and
7Anna Marie (McCauley) Connor on December 14, 1928; he graduated
8from St. Patrick's School and Joliet Catholic High School; he
9studied engineering at Marquette University and earned his law
10degree from the University of Chicago; he served in the U.S.
11Army during the Korean War; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Judge Connor practiced law at Grey, Thomas,
13Wallace & O'Brien; he became a judge in 1965 and chief judge of
14the Twelfth Circuit in 1982; he left the bench in 1986 and
15served as mayor of Joliet from 1987 to 1991; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Judge Connor enjoyed jogging and could be seen all
17around Joliet; he participated in many local groups, including
18the Joliet Area Historical Society; he was a founding member of
19the Will County Irish American Society; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Judge Connor was known for his depth of
21compassion, his zest for life, the strength of his integrity,

1and the force of his intellect; he was a loving and loyal
2husband and father and a stalwart friend; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Judge Connor was preceded in death by his parents
4and his son, Matthew Connor; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Judge Connor is survived by his wife of 50 years,
6Alice (Scriba) Connor; his children, Tracy Connor (Ron Golec),
7Darcy (Richard) Martin, Ted Connor (Michelle Snow), and
8Illinois State Represenative John (Julie) Connor; his
9grandchildren, Rocky, Connor, and Alec Martin and Colin, Jack,
10and Charlie Connor; and his sister, Margaret "Martha" (Jack)
11Peifer; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we mourn the passing of the Honorable Charles Patrick "Charlie"
15Connor and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
16friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Judge Connor as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
